This generation of youth has so much more to contend with than the generations of the past 50 years has with the constant bombardment of technology and a faster moving landscape that is always shifting. But the same questions remain

Do I fit in?

How do I fit in?

Where do I fit in?

Do people even like me?

Will I ever feel normal and what even IS normal?

With social media and technology taking over IRL connections, people are feeling more disconnected than ever. If a young person is experiencing bullying at school, they can’t just go home and forget about it. Trolling and cyberbullying has become a serious issue for our youngest generation. In this 6 month course we are going to be asking these questions, of ourselves and one another, to create an original musical revue about the deep human need to find a place to belong, and the bullies that get in the way (including our own inner bullies, often the worst critics of all) Comparison is the thief of joy and perfection the enemy of greatness-But these are lessons gained with age and wisdom. Through an intensive (and fun!) study of the crafts of acting/dancing/singing and play writing, these students will have creative control over what characters they would like to become and what stories they feel are most important to tell. Some themes explored will be-

Growing up and out of who we once were

Bullies

Our inner critics

Self acceptance, compassion, and celebration of UNIQUENESS!

Taught by veteran trauma informed instructor/performer/writer/director and owner Bonnie Catterson Kent with co-instructor Laura Mudge and guest vocalists and dance instructors, this class will create a show that will tug on everyone’s heartstrings, educate the audience and also remind us all of just how hard, amazing, and profound growing up can be.
